Nintendo Direct Highlights!

If you're a Nintendo fan, you most likely watched the Nintendo Direct yesterday. If you're a gaming fan in general, I'm sure you've heard quite a bit about it from browsing the webs. Right now it's hard to not say that Nintendo is knocking it out of the park this year as far as announcements go. They know how to generate hype and keep their fans engaged with practically a snap of the finger. From more Wii-U ports, new titles, and even some old classics. The Direct had something for every fan.

3DS Announcements

Warioware Gold
August 3rd

Much like Mario Party: The Top 100, Warioware Gold is a collection of 300 microgames in one package. On top of the classic microgames there will also be new ones included that utilize the 3DS to its full potential. Such as microgames using the touchscreen, mic, and more!

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey
TBA 2019

The classic DS release is making it's return on the 3DS sometime next year! New features will allow you to switch between the Mario Brothers to platform/control Bowser to explore!

Luigi's Mansion Remake
TBA 2018

Something I am thrilled about and a bit upset with at the same time. I love that they're remaking this game, but I just wish they decided to remake it for the Switch. Regardless they're adding a few new features like a boss rush mode! Maybe at a later date they'll announce both games for the Switch? Probably not.

Switch Announcements

Okami HD
TBA 2018

One of the greatest games released on the PS2 has finally found it's way to the Switch after launching on the PS4 and Xbox One late last year.

Dark Souls Amiibo & Test Beta
May 25

This is the greatest Amiibo ever.

Octopath Traveler
July 13

A game I have been keeping a heavy eye on, Octopath Traveler finally has a release date! I have high hopes from watching all of the developer diaries. With the demo surveys putting some heavy changes on the gameplay shows that the team really cares about this project and it makes me even more excited for it's release. This time around they introduced two more characters and a collector's edition that is looking mighty fine.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
TBA 2018

No More Heroes was a ton of fun on the Wii. Now Travis Touchdown's return is rapidly approaching with this new entry! Supporting seven different game types and a co-op mode.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
July 13

This is one of my favorite games on the Wii-U. This incredibly cute platformer had me hooked right from the start with it's charming and sometimes troubling puzzles. This time around there will be a co-op mode and Super Mario Odyssey themed levels added in.

Though I dislike the fanbase for ruining this game for me, it's still a neat release to see on the Switch. The game has sold extremely well and it has the potential to gain plenty more fans through Nintendo.

Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy

This is awesome. With all the rumors it seemed possible but the fact that these PS1 classics are finally being released on a non-Sony console is special. It'll be great being able to take Crash on the road again and it will be even better to see people struggle and attempt breaking their system in frustration.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole
April 24

Another surprise. I wasn't expecting to see this release on a Nintendo console any time soon. But I was wrong! It's nice to see Nintendo getting all of this third party support and it's really paying off.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
May 18

Another Wii-U title, Hyrule Warriors is closing in on it's Switch debut. The game comes complete will all existing content, including all characters, maps, and missions. Local play is also an option!

Mario Tennis Aces
June 22

A ton of information was released for this title during the direct. Plenty of new gameplay mechanics and even a release date!

Splatoon 2 Ver. 3.0
TBA 2018

A new update will being in new gear, stages, Octolings, and more! There will also be a new DLC that includes a single player story for $19.99

No better way to close a Direct than with something like this.
