Fight Nights Round-Up + Season 2 Announcements

Back in January, LAN Mob started Thursday Night Fights, and it's hard to believe that this Thursday's event will be the last of Season 1 already! To anyone who hasn't attended, LAN Mob + Rome Revolution are creating up to twelve sponsorship packages for each game being played at Fight Nights and we utilize a unique format to help players learn and grow in various games, while still being able to play their favorites/discover new ones. I've learned so much since January, from both an organizer and player perspective, and we now know what games people like, dislike, etc. It's important to note that despite all of the player backgrounds in various games, we've put value on every fighter and "sub-genre" we could for Season 1, including Smash, Street Fighter, Tekken, indie fighters, anime games (such as BlazBlue, Guilty Gear and the wildly successful Dragonball FighterZ) and even Marvel VS Capcom Infinite. We think it's important to offer opportunities for everyone to play the games they enjoy playing, and we considered it fully while deciding on changes for Season 2 of Fight Nights, but at the same time we've been juggling a whole mess of games. We released a poll in our Thursday Night Fights Discord channel asking a few key questions, and we also considered these heavily while deciding on what changes to bring in for Season 2.

Game Changes!
One of the simplest changes to expect between Fight Night seasons is the game list. Like I said, we really went all out on Season 1, and with Season 2 starting very shortly, our first changes were simply removing some of the least popular/cycled-out games. To anyone that attends Fight Nights, I don't think there will be much of a surprise - but here are the games we ultimately decided to remove going into Season 2 - Mortal Kombat X, King of Fighters XIV and Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite.
That being said, removing games is an opportunity to introduce some new games to the weekly event, and what better way to gauge interest then by asking the community! Starting in Season 2, we're proud to add Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[St] (don't worry, you don't have to call it that every time) to our fight nights!

There was also a large amount of interest in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and Super Street Fighter II Turbo (via the SF30th Anniversary Collection) in our poll, so fret not, you've been heard! Unfortunately, these games won't be making in to Season 2 of Fight Nights due to their release dates, but are a total shoe-in for Season 3. Another game that has garnered a lot of interest is Windjammers, and while the game technically isn't a fighter, it certainly has strong ties to the community. We want to keep the core game list low, but starting in Season 2 we'll have the opportunity to play some more games while keeping our list down to ten.

Event Games
Starting in Season 2, every Thursday Night Fights will feature a special "event" game. This event game can be played throughout the nights matches, and players can opt to play it in place of their middle option in a set. These games can range from smaller indie titles, old classics and sometimes even a game release, such as Cross Tag Battle. We'll announce the next Event game at the prior Fight Nights, we look forward to seeing everyone compete in such a variety of games. To anyone who's worried about what these games may be, I'm happy to announce the first Event Game of Season 2 is Windjammers!

Windjammers will kick off Season off Fight Nights on Thursday, April 12th. That's right, this Season Fight Nights will be a bi-weekly event, meaning there are only 6 Fight Nights in Season 2. I personally really look forward to these changes, and I can't wait to discover more games and practice in others. Bi-weekly means each week is more important, with extra practice time and friendlies between! Last but not least, this Friday, April 30th at 7pm is the Zehn Masters Spring Series Qualifiers for Street Fighter V and Dragonball FighterZ. The Zehn Masters series is a very great opportunity to compete against some really strong regions in a National event, so we hope for some great competition. We'll have some more announcements coming up after this week's fight nights + Zehn events! Thanks for reading everyone!
